sales coordinator

Insight Editions seeks a dynamic and motivated Sales Coordinator to join a book publishing sales team that is passionate about the licensing brands we represent and committed to supporting our retail accounts and online booksellers to better connect fans and readers with the most fun and innovative pop culture books in the country. In this role you will provide support to the Insight Editions internal and external sales teams. This role will work closely with sales, editors, inventory, and marketing teams to ensure metadata and pre-sales materials are available as quickly as possible to support long-lead selling schedules.


In this role you will work with a variety of publishing formats across multiple brands including Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Pokémon, New Regency Films, Minecraft, and many others. Experience with licensed books is a plus. This role is a great opportunity for a candidate to learn the sales and marketing process for a global book company that publishes across many formats. The coordinator will report to the Head of Global Sales and Marketing and collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and creative services team members within an exciting, highly creative environment.


Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

MARKETING ASSITANT

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Assistant looking to start their career in entertainment and are interested in working with the team that introduces books and products to very impassioned fandoms that support our publishing partners including Marvel, Disney, Gilmore Girls, DC, Wicked, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, and so many more.


Like all entry-level roles this position will include the stuff you have to do. If you are willing to commit 70% of your time to the administrative duties needed to assist in the running of an entertainment marketing and publicity department you have the opportunity to learn through hands-on marketing and to bring your favorite fandoms into your workday. Here’s what this role will be charged with each day:



Administrative Duties (the necessary stuff):

  • Support Senior Director with administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, video conferences, and conference calls with internal and external groups across multiple time zones.
  • Prepare and distribute materials, create presentations, and take notes for company-wide, departmental, and small group meetings.
  • Processes invoices and monthly expense reports for marketing/publicity and sales departments.
  • Update seasonal pub grid each week sending change information to the department.
  • Track shipping and receiving dates for products including air freight from international printers to California office and cargo freight from international printers to regional warehouses, notifying department on expected and actual receiving dates.


Marketing Duties (the interesting stuff):

  • Work with Senior Director to manage full year marketing and publicity divisional budget including quarterly balancing, running title spend reports, and running title spend vs. title shipping reports.
  • Assist social media and e-commerce teams with title selections and copy for seasonal D2C sales campaigns, promotions, and advertising.
  • Work with editors and authors on pre-launch author questionnaire process.
  • Assist creative services department with social media and advertising asset design work.
  • Identify brands of interest and shadow marketer or publicist in all aspects of the campaign.
  • Identify one of Insight Editions’ publishing categories, study the market, interact with the fandoms, follow the social media platforms, and identify how our products can be integrated into that world.
  • Provides general marketing support to title campaigns overseen by the Senior Director.

Creative Duties (the fun stuff):

  • Create a year-long calendar outlining events within the popular culture universe that have a promotional hook for Insight Editions’ frontlist and backlist titles. Work with marketers to create promotions around events like Pokémon Day (February 27), Marilyn Monroe Centennial (June 1, 2026), or new season of White Lotus (February 16).
  • Keep tabs on and keep track of film and television studios, record labels, and video game companies for news on future releases connected to Insight Editions’ products.
  • Bring your popular culture interests to work each day, share your fandoms, and brainstorm projects that could be created from them.
  • Support in the planning, execution, and running of several consumer and trade shows each year including potential travel to shows like San Diego Comic Con, Fan Expos, PAX East/West, Gen Con, Star Wars Celebration, and others. Expectations

  • Prior experience working in-person in a corporate office environment (including internships).
  • Experience working within the entertainment, product development, or book publishing world a huge plus.

Qualifications:

  • Assist the Executive Editor and editorial team on all aspects of acquisitions and project management of Insight Edition titles including brainstorming, research, concept development, creation of pitch materials, writing title outlines, rights & clearance tracking, licensor approval tracking, updating title information in FileMaker and distribution portals.
  • Assist in the creation/gathering of information for marketing and sales collateral, including sales copy, sell sheets, catalog copy, sales decks, and brochures.

Insight Editions is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic, and collaborative EDITOR to join the gaming, music, and sports division. The Insight Editions publishing team is enthusiastic about the licensing brands we represent and committed to creating content that connects fans and readers with the most fun and innovative pop culture books in the country. In this position, you will assist in acquiring books and will manage high volume and high visibility projects throughout the entire editorial process. This role will oversee a variety of publishing formats across multiple brands including Bethesda, Riot Games, Pokémon, Minecraft, and other sports, music, and game brands. Experience with licensed publishing is a plus. In this role, you will work closely with in-house design, production, sales, and marketing teams to successfully shape, shepherd, and launch innovative product releases across multiple formats. At least 3-5 years of recent experience editing books is essential. Qualified applicants must be extremely detail-focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines, expectations, and projects while collaborating closely with authors, packagers, and freelancers. We are looking for an accomplished editor who is enthusiastic about entertainment, gaming, and/or sports brands.

Managing editor

Insight Editions is seeking an experienced managing editor who will be responsible for project oversight, schedule management, data integrity, and internal communication across departments within the Weldon Owen and Mandala Earth imprints. This is a fun, high-energy, high-demand environment requiring expert problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years experience working on highly designed, full-color lifestyle books and products, and have a passion for the cookbooks; craft; mind, body, spirit; and pop culture titles we have the pleasure of working on everyday.


Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a list of 50-60 active titles at a time
  • Meet weekly with editors to discuss their titles, troubleshoot problems, and proactively address concerns
  • Lead bi-weekly divisional WIP meetings, resolving issues effectively and keeping the editorial tracker up to date
  • Manage schedule creation and maintenance for the life of each project
  • Schedule + facilitate internal kickoff meetings to review P&L/budget, timeline, assets, and sales materials, and to proactively identify concerns

National Trade Sales Manager

This role is directly responsible for owning and driving relationships with strategic partners (Simon & Schuster, and other distributors) to grow our revenue with new and existing customers in partnership with our distribution partners.


You will be accountable to increase sales and market share in national trade and wholesales accounts, Simon & Schuster-led accounts, while developing relationships with major accounts and leveraging creativity and partnership to drive revenue.


Performance goals are based on achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual net sales through distribution partners, market share by channel, and achieving budgeted returns and contribution rate by channel.



Account Management:

  • Support selling Insight Editions products to key accounts including, but not limited to Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Ingram, and other wholesale accounts.
  • Manage and grow direct partnership accounts, licensor storefront locations, and key partner and strategic online storefronts.
  • Partner with internal business development and custom and proprietary teams to build market share through custom sales opportunities with licensors and trade and mass retail accounts.

Senior sales Manager – National Specialty & Gift

This role is directly responsible for owning and driving relationships with strategic partners and direct accounts to generate revenue through existing relationships and new customer acquisition. In this role, you will manage the external sales representatives to drive revenue growth in assigned channels.


You will be accountable for increasing sales and market share in Simon & Schuster-led accounts, direct accounts and rep group accounts while developing relationships with major accounts and leveraging creativity and partnership to drive revenue.


Performance goals are based on achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual net sales by POS by customer (in supported customers), market share by customer, and achieving budgeted contribution rate by channel.



Account Management:

  • Participate in selling Insight Edition products to key accounts including, but not limited to TJ Maxx, Hot Topic, Box Lunch, World Market to set the agenda, tone, and set expectations for the relationship with the largest externally-repped accounts
  • Create, implement, monitor, and continually revise strategies to significantly grow sales and market share in each major account
  • Regularly propose and secure creative promotions – both in-department and out – to grow sales and share of shelf
  • Creative profitable avenues for expanding special program sales including custom and exclusive offerings

Relationship with Operations:

  • Provide timely print forecasts by title by account as requested and participate in print decisions meetings to determine print runs
  • Immediately communicate demand opportunities, verifying the availability of product before committing, and verifying that the operations team has responded to the unexpected demand
  • Monitor printing and delivery status of key titles, proactively communicating with operations and customers regarding any challenges


Relationship with Editorial:

  • Leverage personal observation, account relationships, and POS data to continually feed the editorial teams with market opportunities
  • Provide special markets point of view with regards to new acquisitions and development of new product


Relationship with Accounting and Operations:

  • Maintain awareness off the status of and challenges with the supply chain relative to assigned customers – showing leadership and bridgebuilding in times of challenge


Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist Accounts Receivables as needed to ensure that all mass market accounts comply with agreed upon terms

Here’s what this role will be charged with each day:


Advertising Responsibilities:

  • Research advertising venues that develop content related to our target consumers’ interests.
  • Establish relationships with advertising sales reps, collect media sales kits, and create a database of advertising options and costs related to the vertices in which Insight Editions publishes.
  • Brainstorm with title marketers and director each season on advertising; suggest advertising options for marketing campaigns; present a menu of options backed with costs, stats, and data.
  • Brainstorm with title marketers and director each season on social media advertising; plan, execute, and optimize paid campaigns across Insight Editions’ social platforms.
  • Confirm advertising campaigns with venues; update marketing plans and internal systems with campaign details to inform sales reps; track deadlines and submit graphics to venues after approvals; process invoices and track title and seasonal advertising budgets.
  • Work with venues to monitor results and revise campaigns as needed for better visibility; track data from self-run social media advertising; receive/create post-campaign data; create post-mortems distilling data into concise reports including recommendations on effectiveness; update advertising database with results for consideration in future campaigns; update schedules, marketing plans, and internal systems with marketing and advertising details adhering to seasonal sales schedules and deadlines.
  • Support e-commerce ad initiatives by exploring additional paid advertising opportunities to drive website traffic and sales.


Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Lead corporate storytelling across Insight Editions social media platforms including creation of compelling original content related to the categories we specialize in.
  • Develop lead/gen initiatives to grow our social platforms and our consumer outreach initiatives.
  • Design digital assets, both original, creative designs and assets adhering to corporate or licensor/brand style guides and templates.
  • Coordinate with title marketers and the director to set seasonal and monthly social posting calendar for new releases, backlist promotions, events and conventions, and corporate initiatives.
  • Create resource documents and social media best practice guidelines to share with authors, creators, and partners to enable their own promotional efforts.
  • Track performance metrics, analyze engagement data, and generate reports and recommendations to optimize future content development and social media strategies.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify consumer and social trends, keeping an eye on new, emerging platforms to further develop innovative strategies for social media marketing campaigns.
  • Work with e-commerce team to promote corporate D2C sales initiatives across social media and digital advertising with an equal focus on sales and lead/gen initiatives to grow consumer outreach.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work in advertising and social media within the entertainment or book publishing industries.
  • Proficiency in designing social media and advertising assets through Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and TikTok and newsletter platform MailChimp.
  • Experience promoting products across gaming platforms like Twitch, Steam, and Game Tree, is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to execute and analyze paid social media and advertising campaigns while also creating and presenting concise reports of results to share internally and externally to authors and brand partners.

This is a full-time position open to fulltime remote applicants based in the United States. Senior editor

At Insight Editions, our Senior Editors are experienced, enthusiastic, collaborative, and passionate about the subjects we publish and are committed to creating content that connects with our readers. In this position, you will be leading editors and editorial assistants in creating books in the areas of mind, body, spirit as well as nature and the environment, striving to be innovative in formats and original in content.


The Senior Editor will work collaboratively with editorial, design, and production staff to get high-quality manuscripts delivered on time and on budget. You will directly supervise editors and editorial assistants and will oversee, and as assigned directly edit, select projects with high standards and uncompromising quality throughout the entire editorial process. You will be responsible for researching, hiring, and managing the best talent available for each project and developing concepts, formats, and content as needed to meet the Insight Editions standards for market-leading innovative and uncompromising quality of design-led books. Through outstanding organization, oversight, and keen management skill, the Senior Editor keeps all projects moving smoothly through the editorial pipeline up to prepress, ensuring products publish on plan, on spec, and with the highest editorial standards applied to every project.


You will work with the Publisher to produce products that resonate with readers across multiple markets. It is imperative that you love research, are extremely detail-focused, and can handle ever-changing deadlines and expectations calmly and with ease. Experience selecting authors, acquiring assets, and assisting in the creative vision behind a book is a plus. Being passionate about the product and concept and relentless in your drive for perfection are qualities that drive success in this position. Lastly, having an eye for what might be the next trending topic in the market and being networked in the industry are both advantages for success in this role.


Responsibilities and Duties included but are not limited to:

  • Organizing workflows and team assignments to make sure we are hitting annual net sales and gross margin targets
  • Fostering a culture of innovation, by executing publishing plans for unique, commercial, and highly engaging books and gifts that are delivered on time and on budget
  • Monitoring team and individual goals, organizing onboarding and training plans, and providing staff development and new learning opportunities so we can retain and promote the best and brightest creative talent
  • Creating a positive, supportive, and collaborative working environment that fosters innovation, accountability, and cross-functional team building
  • Working closely with editorial, managing editorial, design, and all creative services teams to ensure manuscripts are delivered as early as possible so that we can maximize opportunities to build preorders and supply necessary materials for long-lead media and sales and marketing schedules
  • Participating in marketing, publicity, and promotion planning to support material needs that are required to create consumer awareness with the fanbase, increase net sales, and create brand awareness to drive traffic to retail both online and through brick and mortar
  • Acquiring and editing several projects per year while leading, managing, and problem-solving active projects assigned to teams
  • Researching industry trends and developing new book concepts and formats


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of recent experience acquiring and editing books is essential
  • Experience directly managing editorial staff and assistants
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines, expectations, and projects while working closely with talented authors, illustrators, writers, and licensors is essential
  • Established and positive working relationships with freelancers and packagers
  • Customer-first mentality that focuses on the commercial viability of the package combined with the “in-hand experience” and perceived value of the book
  • Experience selecting authors, acquiring assets, and assisting in the creative vision behind the book.
  • Enthusiasm for and passion about the product and concept and a relentless drive for perfection are qualities that make this person successful in translating a project brief into an exceptional Insight Editions publication
