Christopher Nolan, Author: Christopher Nolan began making movies at an early age with his father’s Super-8mm camera. While studying English Literature at University College London, Nolan shot 16mm films at UCL’s film society, learning the guerrilla film techniques he would later use to make his first feature, Following. Since that time, he has directed Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. For his work on those films, Nolan has been honored with Golden Globe nominations for Best Director (Inception and Dunkirk) and Best Screenplay (Memento and Inception), three Producer’s Guild Nominations (The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk), a Writer’s Guild Award (Inception) and four Director’s Guild Nominations (Memento, The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk). He also received Oscar® nominations for Best Screenplay for Memento and Inception, Best Film for Inception and Dunkirk, and Best Achievement in Directing (Dunkirk). Nolan currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and producer, Emma Thomas, and their four children.
